Spring is here...I mean Summer....WINTER IS OVER!

Now, towards the middle of June, I am finally confident that winter shall not return.  The rain has been refreshing, though it is still hard to not see the sun everyday like you can in Colorado, and I have been getting into the season by doing some gardening!

I am posting some pics of the recent planters and lattice that I painted - so many bright, fun colors for spring! Enjoy!

This planter was once old, yellowed, and ugly - it sure looks good in Annie Sloan Emporer's Silk!

This old ladder is one of my favorite pieces, and just needed the flair of these old tins and a few coats of English Yellow to brighten it up!  Hint: when painting pieces for outdoor use, DO NOT WAX!  Wax melts in the sun.  The paint will weather with the season, which will only add to the charm of your outdoor pieces!

This lattice was one lady's trash, but became my treasure!  The range of bright colors brightens up the side of my house, and will be the perfect climbing wall for the Jackman Clematis I planted!

Upcycling old, unwanted items is my passion, and this old milk pail looks lovely with these red Asters.

Finally, this is a project I have been dying to try: using an old chair as a planter!  I painted this beauty using graphite, and put red begonias inside!  Bonus: what was once the chair cushion, now sits under the plant, protecting it from falling and giving definition to the bottom of my chair!

Happy planting and growing!  If you are looking for some pre-made garden accessories, come check out our booth at the Vintage Iron Market, starting this Wednesday at the Peace Plaza, in Rochester: http://www.vintageironmarket.com/home.html.

Gold Rush 2014

Welcome to our blog! This is our first post (just decided to start the blog), and we are featuring pictures from our first show!

Chalks.o.lot is a business that began when our winter hobby overtook our basement.  Giving new life to old worn pieces is our obsession, and we finally have pictures of our finished products to share!

If we saw you at gold rush - thanks for visiting us there and now here! Remember that we do custom orders and we are still looking for good homes for some of our furniture.

Here are some pics of our booth:
